Eco Waste Week

Back to the news pages...

During our Brooke Priory Eco Waste Week the children found out about the impact that waste is having on our environment. We discovered that everyone creates waste, we looked at different types of waste and how waste is managed. During lunch we tried our hardest not to waste our food and have thought carefully about what we are doing at school to try to reduce the amount of waste heading to landfill. Our food waste is sent to staff chickens or the compost bins, our paper waste is sent for recycling, the children are encouraged to bring to school a reusable drinks bottle, and we have introduced Fruity Friday to reduce the amount of litter at school. The children were given examples of what they can do at home too. We now have some super posters that the children have been busy working on around school with further waste reduction suggestions.
