A Fantastic Netball Tour

Back to the news pages...

Two very excited U11 Netball teams set off from Brooke Priory on Friday, 4th March, bound for East Sussex and an action packed weekend tour.

Staying at Hindleap Warren Adventure Centre, Friday was spent experiencing the centre's challenges, including the death defying zip wire!

Saturday was certainly action packed, leaving the Centre at 9.00 a.m., both teams played successful morning matches against Bricklehurst Manor Prep School before moving on to  Rose Hill Prep in Tunbridge Wells.  Being a much bigger school the girls faced a massive challenge but team spirit flowed and, whilst narrowly losing, our girls played their best netball of the season.  Joint Captains Tess Cunliffe and Jolie Mitchell-Clarke led from the front, each winning a Player of the Match award, along with Ariyana Garcea and Alice Whyman.  The Player of the Tour award was won by Gabi Gelderbloom, who also caught the eye of the opposition coaches.  Both host schools were fantastic in their welcome and praise, let alone the quality (and quantity) of cake provided!  Our girls presented the opposition teams at both schools with Mascot Teddies wearing Brooke Priory t-shirts, which encapsulated the fantastic spirit of fun and sport that had been enjoyed by all.

Supper at the Odeon Pizzeria followed by Kung Fu Panda 3 finished off a wonderful day.  After a good night's sleep we returned to Oakham with 14 still tired but challenged, successful, beautifully behaved girls ready for Mother's Day lunch!

Every player was a credit to the school, their parents and their county.
