How it all began .....

The school started in September 1989 in three mobile classrooms in the walled garden of Brooke Priory, with just 27 children.

Having been a Headmistress elsewhere, it was a long-held dream of founder, Susan Allen to have her own school; a place where children would always come first and learning really would be fun.

Those first five years were a period of rapid growth and enormous pleasure.  Who could forget the row of snowmen stretching from the front gate to the school door, or the pile of sledges awaiting playtime, heaps and heaps of welly boots, dammed up streams, camps in the wood and children swinging in the trees?

Susan's passion for education, in the very fullest sense of the word, was infectious and, with her daughter, Elizabeth Bell, at her side the school's reputation spread and pupil numbers rose.  They had created the perfect recipe, a learning environment with happy, successful children at its heart, supportive parents and excellent staff.

The increasing roll meant that more space was needed and the search began for a suitable new site.  A number of options were investigated and finally the land next to Oakham School was purchased and construction began.  This was a fantastic opportunity to create a building that would provide the very best educational accommodation.

In February 1996 the school moved to its present location.  The 120 pupils found the move exciting, exchanging their fields and woods for a wonderful new adventure playground, hard games area and sports field.
