Fabulous artwork adorns the walls throughout Brooke Priory, from the Nursery to Year VI our boys and girls relish the opportunity to create their own masterpieces and we all enjoy looking at them!

There are so many media to explore and the children savour each and every one, from delicately smudging powdery pastels to recreating the paint flicking technique of Jackson Pollock.

Visiting artists regularly come into school and inspire everyone with their wonderful work.  We are always keen to learn how they produce their finished pieces and appreciate the tips they share.  In the past we have enjoyed a variety of workshops from watercolour painting on the banks of Rutland Water with Peter Welton, to pastel flowers with Alan Oliver and book illustrating with Rob Scotton.

Whenever possible we take the children out to galleries and museums, a favourite being the Fitzwilliam in Cambridge.  It is tremendous if we are able to see the work of an artist that we are studying.

The new Art Room has been a revelation.  It is now a hub of activity, not only in lesson time, but during the lunch hour and for after school clubs.  We are able to offer many options from painting, drawing and printing to textiles and sculpture, thus encouraging and developing all levels of artistic endeavour.

Our first whole school project was to create a commemorative wall in porcelain tiles to mark the school's 21st birthday.  Every year group depicted a different area of life at Brooke Priory and the children created some wonderful designs.  It was a very proud moment when the glazes were fired and the finished picture was fixed to the wall.
